10.9 Protection Terms

* Terms have been added to protections. The functionality will be just like warranty terms but will allow the ability to add aftermarket products which have a term under the correct maintenance area. We will still be able to handle protections which do not have a term by simply leaving the term fields blank.

New Protection Maintenance Fields

In order to add a Default Term to a protection item first go into the Protection Maintenance within the Deal Setups. By default, all the protections which are converted from versions 10.8.0 or older will not have a term set.

Any protection can have a term added to it by editing the item and looking for the Default Term field.

Once a protection has a term it will function like warranty; in the deal it will have a start date and an expiry date field. The start date will default to match the contract date of the deal. If the protection item has a term the expiration date will automatically default based off the starting date. Protections with no term will not have an expiration date.

Any protection term data will be available to forms so they will be able to utilize these new term fields for any printing necessities.

Protections On Vehicles

Once a deal has been sold, the protections will be updated in the service view of the vehicle record. The protections will have right click options which will allow you to Add, Edit, Void or Delete protections from the vehicle file.

When editing a protection, all changes to it are audited.
